A Journal of our Travels

Starlink

We finally gave in and installed Starlink on our car.

The mini panel was mounted on the roofrack using a lockable mount from Smart Touring Systems.

Power is provide by a Cowfish power supply, providing 48v to the mini.

The Cowfish Cosmo Mini PSU is connected to the load outpit of the MPPT controller, allowing us to turn the power on remoted from our phone.

A Starlink Mini IP68 Waterproof Bulkhead DC Socket from Spacetek is used for cable entry to the canopy. A 500mm cable is used in the canopy and a 1m cable fro the connec tor to the panel.

We have also installed a remote controlled relay to enable us to turn off power to the Cowfish Cosmo (and therefore Starlink) from inside the cab or from the van. Turning off power when it is not being used reduces the draw on the battery.

This setup allows us to access the internet when driving, and also when in the caravan as long as the car is nearby.
