Lake St Clair

Singleton

Lake St Clair is a picturesque freshwater lake located approximately 30 minutes north of Singleton in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales. Nestled at the foot of the Mount Royal Range, this 16-kilometer-long lake was formed in the 1980s by damming Glennies Creek to supplement the region's water supply .

Lake St Clair offers a variety of recreational activities:

  • Fishing: The lake is stocked with native fish species, including Australian bass, golden perch, silver perch, and catfish. Anglers can fish from the shore or by boat, with a NSW Recreational Fishing Licence required .

  • Camping: The Lake St Clair Campground offers 12 powered sites and 38 hectares of unpowered camping areas, accommodating tents, caravans, and camper trailers. Facilities include toilets, hot showers, potable water, a camp kitchen, picnic tables, BBQs, and a boat ramp .
  • Picnicking: The lake's foreshores provide attractive areas for picnics and barbecues, with scenic drives along the eastern shoreline on Carrowbrook Road .
