Glen Riddle Recreation Reserve

Barraba

Nestled on the northern foreshore of Split Rock Dam, Glen Riddle Recreation Reserve (also known as Glenriddle Reserve) is located about 15 km south of Barraba, off Pera‑Linton Road in Woodsreef, NSW

It's a large, grassy reserve ideal for camping, fishing, kayaking, and swimming.

Campsites & Facilities

  • Spacious grassy sites suitable for tents, caravans, camper‑trailers, and even big rigs—all right up to the water's edge
  • Amenities include drop/long‑drop toilets, picnic shelters, a few BBQs and fixed fireplaces, picnic tables, rubbish bins, non‑potable drinking water taps, and at least one
  • Boat ramp: Gravel launch for small boats and kayaks
  • Campfires permitted, but you must bring your own firewood
  • Pet‑friendly, dogs allowed on leads

No water or power; the site operates on a free, first‑come basis (max stay ~21 days)

Activities & Wildlife

  • Fishing: The dam (formed by Manilla River) is popular for Murray cod, golden perch, and yellowbelly
  • Boating and swimming: The calm waters are well suited for paddling and swimming, though water levels vary seasonally
  • Birdwatching & wildlife: Surrounded by native vegetation, expect to see waterbirds and kangaroos

Access & Important Info

Getting there: From Barraba, head south on Manilla Road, then east onto Pera‑Linton Road. A gravel track leads down to the dam edge

  • Road access is good—suitable for standard vehicles and large rigs .
  • Water levels fluctuate—during dry conditions, parts of the foreshore can muddy and shallow .
  • Respect the site: It’s free to use, so please take your rubbish with you and consider supporting nearby communities
