From Bethanga, we got back on the Hume Motorway and headed north toward home. We had originally planned to stay at the Gunning Showground, but unfortunately, it was closed for camping due to an event. Not deterred, we continued our journey until we reached Marulan, where we found a spot to camp behind the Terminus Hotel. After settling in, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the pub, which was a perfect way to unwind after a day of travel.

A little history about Marulan — the town was once known as Mooroowoolen. In 1958, it became home to the first truck inspection station in New South Wales, situated just on the outskirts of the town along the Hume Highway. In 1986, the town was bypassed when a new dual carriageway section of the highway was opened, giving the town a quieter feel while still being conveniently located for travelers.
